Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

1. Summary

readmeter.dev only uses analytics cookies if you click Accept analytics in the cookie banner. If you reject, or until you answer, no analytics cookies or storage are set. When you reject, we still count visits anonymously without cookies (see section 4). The ReadMeter tool you install runs on your own machine and is not covered by this page; see the Privacy Policy.

2. Strictly necessary

Needed for the site to remember basic choices. These don’t need consent and aren’t used for tracking.

3. Analytics (only with your consent)

Set only after you click Accept analytics. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand which pages help people decide and whether a purchase came from a visit. If you accept, the checkout link also carries your anonymous PostHog ID so the purchase can be linked to the visit. Rejecting later deletes our own analytics entries listed here and stops PostHog from using its cookie.

4. Cookieless measurement

These tools don’t set cookies or store anything in your browser:

  • PostHog cookieless mode (if you reject): counts visits with a hash of your IP address, browser and the date, calculated on PostHog’s EU servers. The hash changes every day, so visits can’t be linked across days.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics: aggregate page-view statistics without cookies.
  • Vercel Speed Insights: anonymous page-speed measurements without cookies.

5. Features you choose to use

Set only when you use the feature, because the feature needs them to work.

6. Checkout

Purchases happen on Gumroad’s checkout at purchase.readmeter.dev. Gumroad sets its own cookies there (including Google Analytics), under Gumroad’s privacy policy. Because that page is on a readmeter.dev subdomain, those cookies can also be visible to this site; we don’t read or use them.

7. Changing your choice

Use Cookie settings in the footer or the button above at any time. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings.
