Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

PusTechnologies, operating ReadMeter ("we," "our," or "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Firestore optimization tools and services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information (email address, name)
  • Payment information processed through Gumroad (gumroad.com, our payment provider)
  • Support communications and feedback

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • On readmeter.dev: usage data and analytics (for example which pages are viewed and conversion-related events), device and browser-type signals, and IP-derived data processed by our analytics providers as described in section 5.
  • Firestore read patterns and counts from your app are processed only on your machine during development. ReadMeter does not upload your Firestore document payloads or your read metrics to our servers for analysis.

2.3 Product telemetry (CLI)

If you install ReadMeter using our installer, we may create a random pseudonymous identifier on your device (stored in ~/.readmeter/telemetry_id). The ReadMeter CLI may send optional, coarse product-usage events to our servers (for example when a successful readmeter add or readmeter remove finishes). Those events can include a coarse stack hint (such as Next.js, Nuxt, or unknown) and never include your project path, repository name, Firestore payloads, or end-user data from your applications.

You can disable this telemetry by setting the environment variable READMETER_TELEMETRY=0 before running the installer or before running readmeter commands. If the identifier file is not present or telemetry is disabled, no CLI usage events are sent.

We process these events with PostHog (EU region) to understand product adoption. Retention and subprocessors are governed by PostHog's policies.

2.4 Purchase and license records

When you purchase a ReadMeter license or verify your license key, we store purchase and activation metadata in our database (hosted on Neon Postgres). This can include your email address, name, Gumroad sale identifier, order details, refund status, and a one-way hash of your license key and device instance name. We do not store your raw license key.

We use this information to enforce license limits, provide customer support, and (if you opt in later) review moderated public savings stories. Firestore read metrics from your applications remain on your machine unless you explicitly submit them to us.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Who is responsible

The data controller is Pus Yapı ve Bilişim Teknolojileri (PusTechnologies), Öztrak Caddesi, Serçe Sk., 59500 Tekirdağ, Türkiye, reachable at burak@pusyapi.com. This policy is written to meet the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK).

3.2 Why we use it and on what legal basis

  • Selling and delivering your license, verifying it on up to 3 devices, refunds and support: performance of our contract with you.
  • Website analytics with cookies (PostHog, first-visit attribution): your consent, given in the cookie banner. You can withdraw it at any time under Cookie settings.
  • Cookieless visit counts (PostHog cookieless mode, Ahrefs Web Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights), security and abuse prevention (rate limits on our APIs using a hashed IP address), and optional CLI telemetry: our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving a small software business. You can object at any time.
  • Accounting and tax records for purchases: legal obligation.

3.3 Purposes

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Send technical notices, updates, and support messages
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues

4. Data Storage and Security

ReadMeter is a development-time tool that operates locally in your development environment. Firestore read data and metrics are processed and stored locally on your machine and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share such data for support purposes or for a moderated public savings submission.

Purchase and license activation metadata (described in section 2.4) is stored in Neon Postgres with access restricted to our production services.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services that may process personal or technical data when you use our website, purchase a license, or contact support:

5.1 International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the EU and Türkiye, for example in the United States (Gumroad, Vercel). Where that happens, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and, for KVKK, the transfer mechanisms of Article 9 of Law No. 6698. PostHog processes our analytics data in the EU.

5.2 How long we keep data

  • Purchase and license records: for as long as your license exists, and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Website and product analytics: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Support emails and chats: up to 24 months after our last conversation.
  • Rate-limit records (hashed IP addresses): deleted within a day.
  • Savings stories you submit: until you ask us to remove them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access to your personal information
  • Correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion of your personal information
  • Objection to processing of your personal information
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdrawal of consent at any time (for analytics: Cookie settings in the footer), without affecting earlier processing

To exercise these rights, email burak@pusyapi.com. We reply within one month. We don't sell your data or use it for automated decisions that affect you.

If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in Türkiye, you have the rights in Article 11 of KVKK and can apply to the Personal Data Protection Board (Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurulu) after first contacting us.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

readmeter.dev uses analytics cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Strictly necessary storage (your language, theme and cookie choice) is always used. The Cookie Policy lists every cookie and storage entry, and you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
